+Is there a place where I can check what courses transferred?

If you log into the Student Service Center (SSC) at https://ssc.adm.ubc.ca, there is a link titled “Transfer Credit” under the “Records” section of the “myServices” sidebar (the left column). This will tell you which courses have officially transferred. Transfer credits will not be assessed until you have been admitted into the program, and goes through Engineering Student Services.

+Is it true that the class sizes are much bigger at UBC?

Depending which department you are in, you may have some big classes (with over 100 people). However, second year classes are generally smaller than first year classes. The classes are generally small enough that if you fall asleep in class or are playing on a laptop, the professor will notice….

+Is it true that the professors care less about students at UBC?

For the most part, professors work hard to be available to students outside of class time and do their best to ensure a good learning environment. However, if you have concerns about a professor you can always contact the EUS VP Academic and they can help you out!

+Is there going to be an orientation for transfer students?

Yes! Student Development and the EUS have worked hard to put together a transfer student orientation as a part of Imagine Day, with free lunch, targetted programming and a chance to meet the Dean of Applied Science. For all orientation information please see the UBC Events website.

+First years are allowed to buy the Red Engineering Jackets at a subsidized price. Since this is my first year in engineering – can I buy it at this price too?

Yes you can! When you go to buy a Red, simply let the Red Sales Manager know you are a transfer student and it is your first year at UBC (you may have to show your UBC Card as proof).

+Where can I get more information on the Engineering Transfer Program?

Check out the UBC engineering website (www.engineering.ubc.ca)!
