Want to learn more about the EUS Scholarship? More information can be found here.

APEGBC (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC) is holding a video contest! They’re looking for short videos (no more than 2 minutes) that answer the question of why you love engineering.

The contest is open to all students enrolled in an engineering undergraduate program in BC who are returning in September 2011. Entries are due by September 16, 2011 at 4:30pm.

The winner of this contest will receive a trip to APEGBC’s annual conference & AGM in Kelowna, BC (October 14-16) along with a $1000 cash prize.

For the full set of rules and application form, look here.

If you’re new to UBC this September, you may or may not know anyone. You may also have questions, be looking for textbooks, or just curious on what sort of environment you’ve gotten yourself into.

Have no fear! There is an EUS-run facebook group made solely to be a way for incoming first years to connect to each other in preparation for the new year. You can check it out here. There is also a logo contest, which closes at midnight, July 31st.

Once the first year council has been elected, the group will then pass to them to run and use for whatever they choose! If you’re potentially interested in being a part of this, make sure to talk to any exec you see, peruse the website some more, and take part once the elections are announced!

On behalf of the other executives, we’re very excited to meet you all in just over a month and a half! Make sure to come out to Frosh events and say hi!

The deadline for submitting applications for the EUS Scholarship has been extended to Friday, June 10th.

The EUS Scholarship was established in 2009 to recognize demonstrated leadership, personal initiative, innovation, and service to the UBC Engineering community.  Each year, two junior awards of $500 and two senior awards of $1000 are awarded to deserving undergraduate engineering students.  Successful applicants will be notified by mid July.

Congratulations to last year’s winners:

Frank Liu (Junior), Sean Heisler (Junior), Alim Jiwa (Senior), Laz Milovanovic (Senior)

More details regarding the scholarship, as well as the application form is available here.

If you require reimbursements from the past year or any other information involving the EUS, you, and money, e-mail vpfinance@ubcengineers.ca before April 21st. This could include: PAF/Endowment claims, club-related funding, payments required etc.

The fiscal year ends April 30th, but I will be out of town over Easter weekend and starting work the day I return. Especially with reimbursements, there’s a good chance you could be waiting a while if they’re not in by the 21st. If you have already given me or Brian your recipts/forms, they’ve been dealt with. Anything else can be dropped off in my mailbox in the Cheeze or you can arrange to meet me via e-mail.

Reimbursements can be picked up at the AMS Administration Office (SUB 266) between 9AM and 4:30PM, Monday to Friday. Amounts under $200 will be given out in cash at the small desk on the left. Anything over $200 can be picked up as a cheque at the main desk. Everything I have filed should be available by next Wednesday or so.

Attached are the problems and solutions from today’s MATH 152 Review Session. Click here.
