The UBC Engineering Competition (UBCEC), which will be held here at UBC on November 5, 2011, is a day of engineering challenges hosted annually by the EUS. This year the competitions will revolve around the theme of “Sustainable Energy”.

The UBCEC also serves as a pre-qualifier for the Western Engineering Competition (WEC). WEC is a highly prestigious competition between engineering students from the twelve different engineering universities in Western Canada. All 6 events which are contested at WEC will be held at UBCEC; the top 1 or 2 winning teams from each event move on to compete at WEC, which will be held at the University of Calgary from January 18-22, 2012.

The six competition categories are Engineering Communications, Consulting Engineering, Impromptu Debate, Innovative Design, Junior Design, and Senior Design.  More information on each competition is available on the registration form, and any additional questions can be directed to conferences@ubcengineers.ca.

All competitors will be expected to attend a workshop in the week leading up to the competition to properly prepare them for what to expect and how to do well at their respective competitions.

The deadline for registration is 11:59 pm, Saturday October 29th 2011.
