The Council

The PP council is the voice all first year engineering students at the UBC Vancouver campus.  The positions on the PP council are as follows:

President: The PP President is the departmental head of First Year Engineering. Their duties include sitting on the EUS Council, PAF council, attending the Student Advisory Committee, and running the PP Council.

Vice President: The VP is the Presidents right-hand man or woman, and is typically in charge of three major projects of PP Council, namely the Ball Model, a Film fEUSt submission, and an E-Week event.

Secretary: The Secretary is in charge of taking minutes and organizing meetings.

Treasurer: The Treasurer is charged with managing the finances of the First Year Council. Their duties include getting reimbursements for items purchased, depositing money made from events, and keeping track of the budget throughout the year.

Social Coordinator: The Social Coordinator is in charge of the setup and running of social events throughout the year, including barbeques, games nights, etc.

Sports and Charity Representative: The Sports and Charity Representative’s job is to organize and coordinate First Year teams for participation in REC leagues and events, as well as to run events for collection of items or donations for charity.

Publicity Representative: The Publicity Representative is in charge of making sure announcements and advertisements for events and other important happenings get out to First Years! Classroom announcements, facebook events, chalk on the roads, giant sandwich boards, posters, etc.

Academic Representative: The Academic Representative is the go-to person for any concerns and complaints with First Year curriculum or classes. They work closely with the VP Academics of the EUS, as well as APSC faculty members.

Project Organization Officer: The Project Organization Officer is to be involved with the fun goofy side of First Year Council.  Duties include making sure that Engineering traditions are preformed properly, organizing any fun activities that do not fall under the other PP council members duties.
