The Western Engineering Competition is a regional competition that brings together innovative engineering students in the Western Region of the country, from Manitoba westwards. Competitors from nine engineering schools come together during the third week of January each year to compete in six different categories. The competition categories are meant to showcase the ingenuity and aptitude of engineering students beyond their curriculums.
The top two teams from the UBC Engineering Competition in the Junior Design, Senior Design, Impromptu Debate, Engineering Communications, Innovative Design, and Consulting Engineering categories are the qualifying competitors representing UBC at this great event. WEC 2012 will be held at the University of Calgary.
