The ESC project is steadily moving forward, and we have now arrived at an exciting stage of the project: Architect Selection! The ESC Steering committee received dozens bids from architects to have the opportunity to work on this project, and have narrowed it down to the best four. Still in the running are Patkau Architects, Kasian Architecture, Public Architecture and Urban-Arts. We’ll be making the final decision on which architect we’ll be hiring by the end of December, but before then, we want your help!
Earlier this year, the ESC Steering Committee commissioned a report on the student spaces available to engineering students at UBC. This report examined how space for engineering students has changed over the years, looked at how the current space needs of UBC Engineers are being met, and compared space at UBC Engineering to that at other comparable institutions. The report was completed in June, but has undergone significant revisions since then. We’re now happy to say the the report has been finalized, and is available for viewing to the general public. If you’d like to take a look at the report, you can find it on our Public Documents page. Happy reading!
