The EUS Scholarship is here!

In order to foster growth, leadership, initiative, and innovation in the engineering community, the EUS feels it is important for the community to acknowledge and give back to those individuals who go above and beyond expectations and positively impact UBC engineering.

From now on, every year the EUS will give back $3000 in scholarships to engineering undergraduate students! Applications are due electronically to vpacademic@ubcengineers.ca on 31 May 2009 for the first batch of scholarships, which will be given out in September 2009.  The $3000 is divided into four awards: two will be junior awards ($500 value each) for students entering second or third year.  The other two will be senior awards ($1000 each) for students with fourth-year standing in September.

For full details and the application, please see the attached document: 2009 EUS Scholarship Application Form

Good luck on exams, and happy applying!

Athletics & Recreation is a hot topic right now at UBC!

Firstly, UBC is considering joining NCAA Division II. This is a huge leap because we’d be one of the first non-US teams. Should we make it? UBC is asking you on their consultation site.

Secondly, the AMS is spearheading a consultation on the recreation student fees. In short, they think we pay a ton ($207) in student fees so it’s not fair we then have to pay more for leagues and drop-in. Visit the AMS website and/or the Facebook page to read up on this. Mike Duncan also blogged about it. Then give the AMS some feedback!

Recreation is a key to a great time at UBC, so take this time to get informed and have a say in the direction you want UBC to take.
