The Engineering newsletter (e-nEUS) is a joint-initiative between the UBC Engineering Undergraduate Society and the UBC Faculty of Applied Science. This weekly newsletter  provides a unified, diverse source of information for all Engineering undergraduate students at UBC.  Articles such as job opportunities, scholarship opportunities, social events, tutoring, and more are hosted within this newsletter each week.

The e-nEUS Editor will compile content for the weekly newsletter from a variety of sources including the faculty, engineering student services, and the EUS, and will distribute this content to undergraduate students using a web-based system. The student will also collaborate with all other engineering student groups to ensure that their events are publicized in the weekly newsletter.

The student editor will be responsible for developing associated content for the EUS website in conjunction with the EUS webmaster. This web content will include a full archive of the weekly newsletters, as well as updates to their Google calendar.

A full description of the position can be found here.

If you have any questions about this posting, please contact: Will Gallego, Student Development Assistant, at: studentdev@apsc.ubc.ca.

To Apply:

Please submit a cover letter, resume and contact information for three references to Emily Wyatt, Student Development Coordinator, at Emily.wyatt@ubc.ca and vpcomad@ubcengineers.ca

Applications must be received by August 26th, 2011.

If you require reimbursements from the past year or any other information involving the EUS, you, and money, e-mail vpfinance@ubcengineers.ca before April 21st. This could include: PAF/Endowment claims, club-related funding, payments required etc.

The fiscal year ends April 30th, but I will be out of town over Easter weekend and starting work the day I return. Especially with reimbursements, there’s a good chance you could be waiting a while if they’re not in by the 21st. If you have already given me or Brian your recipts/forms, they’ve been dealt with. Anything else can be dropped off in my mailbox in the Cheeze or you can arrange to meet me via e-mail.

Reimbursements can be picked up at the AMS Administration Office (SUB 266) between 9AM and 4:30PM, Monday to Friday. Amounts under $200 will be given out in cash at the small desk on the left. Anything over $200 can be picked up as a cheque at the main desk. Everything I have filed should be available by next Wednesday or so.

clubroomcrawl_logo_low Come tour all of the engineering clubrooms to help with your decision of which department to choose!

Each departmental club will have fun activities and/or presentations that showcase what’s special about that program. First years get the opportunity to ask questions of senior students who have been through everything before.

The first tour leaves at 3:30 pm sharp and the last tour leaves at around 4:00 pm.

Meet at the Cheeze and split up into groups, after which a tour guide will lead your group around for some good times. Hope to see you all there!

The EUS Scholarship is here!

In order to foster growth, leadership, initiative, and innovation in the engineering community, the EUS feels it is important for the community to acknowledge and give back to those individuals who go above and beyond expectations and positively impact UBC engineering.

From now on, every year the EUS will give back $3000 in scholarships to engineering undergraduate students! Applications are due electronically to vpacademic@ubcengineers.ca on 31 May 2009 for the first batch of scholarships, which will be given out in September 2009.  The $3000 is divided into four awards: two will be junior awards ($500 value each) for students entering second or third year.  The other two will be senior awards ($1000 each) for students with fourth-year standing in September.

For full details and the application, please see the attached document: 2009 EUS Scholarship Application Form

Good luck on exams, and happy applying!

P.S.  If you have troubles typing in the form portions of the application, please email vpacademic@ubcengineers.ca and ask for help!
