Hey First Year Students! Interested in getting involved in the EUS this year? Then this is an excellent opportunity to get involved by running for a position on the First Year Council. Elections are scheduled for the 25th, and the nomination forms will be due by next Tuesday, the 22nd at noon. The applicants will give a small speech during the tEUSday meeting, after the nomination forms have been verified. Nomination forms can be found here, as well as more info on what you can do on PP Council.

When a lot of people think of University fraternities and sororities, they tend to picture houses of young students socializing, partying and going to sporting events. Imagine UBC; one of the largest university orientations in Canada. What used to be a day meant only for first years has now been expanded to include other years as well. UBC engineering will be providing a large number of new events for upper year students. What are these events? Read on! (more…)
The EUS Scholarship is here!
In order to foster growth, leadership, initiative, and innovation in the engineering community, the EUS feels it is important for the community to acknowledge and give back to those individuals who go above and beyond expectations and positively impact UBC engineering.
From now on, every year the EUS will give back $3000 in scholarships to engineering undergraduate students! Applications are due electronically to vpacademic@ubcengineers.ca on 31 May 2009 for the first batch of scholarships, which will be given out in September 2009. The $3000 is divided into four awards: two will be junior awards ($500 value each) for students entering second or third year. The other two will be senior awards ($1000 each) for students with fourth-year standing in September.

Rising Stars of Research (RSR) is an exciting and unique event which brings top undergraduate researchers in science and engineering from across Canada to BC to showcase their research accomplishments and explore their passion for innovation. The centrepiece of “RSR” is a research poster competition and includes workshops, talks from outstanding faculty researchers, facility tours, and of course, a great time in beautiful British Columbia.
The RSR online application will open on May 4th. Application deadline is Friday, June 5th, at 4pm PDT.
