Archive for the ‘Funding’ Category

If you require reimbursements from the past year or any other information involving the EUS, you, and money, e-mail vpfinance@ubcengineers.ca before April 21st. This could include: PAF/Endowment claims, club-related funding, payments required etc.

The fiscal year ends April 30th, but I will be out of town over Easter weekend and starting work the day I return. Especially with reimbursements, there’s a good chance you could be waiting a while if they’re not in by the 21st. If you have already given me or Brian your recipts/forms, they’ve been dealt with. Anything else can be dropped off in my mailbox in the Cheeze or you can arrange to meet me via e-mail.

Reimbursements can be picked up at the AMS Administration Office (SUB 266) between 9AM and 4:30PM, Monday to Friday. Amounts under $200 will be given out in cash at the small desk on the left. Anything over $200 can be picked up as a cheque at the main desk. Everything I have filed should be available by next Wednesday or so.

The EUS Scholarship is here!

In order to foster growth, leadership, initiative, and innovation in the engineering community, the EUS feels it is important for the community to acknowledge and give back to those individuals who go above and beyond expectations and positively impact UBC engineering.

From now on, every year the EUS will give back $3000 in scholarships to engineering undergraduate students! Applications are due electronically to vpacademic@ubcengineers.ca on 31 May 2009 for the first batch of scholarships, which will be given out in September 2009.  The $3000 is divided into four awards: two will be junior awards ($500 value each) for students entering second or third year.  The other two will be senior awards ($1000 each) for students with fourth-year standing in September.

For full details and the application, please see the attached document: 2009 EUS Scholarship Application Form

Good luck on exams, and happy applying!

-Your Finally Outgoing Vice President Academics, AmandaLin

P.S.  If you have troubles typing in the form portions of the application, please email vpacademic@ubcengineers.ca and ask for help!

The EUS has some extra money in its’ budget that needs to be spent before the close of the year and we would like to do this in the most sensible and responsible manner.  Proposals are now being accepted for funding to initiatives that either:

a) benefit all(or a large portion thereof) members of the Society(you the student).

b) are a capital investment into a revenue generating venture that will pay for itself and begin generating profit at some point.

If you have ideas and are not sure if they fit within this definition please email me, president@ubcengineers.ca, to learn more.  Or click this link for the Funding Application!!

This information will be added to the scholarships page on the website eventually, but I thought it important to pass the information long ASAP, as the deadline is rapidly approaching!

See Coast Capital’s website for details, or this poster: Coast Capital Scholarship Poster.

From February 6-8th the Commerce Undergraduate Society at UBC’s Sauder School of Business will be hosting the Enterprize conference and business plan competition.  This year the EUS will be subsidizing up to 50 students to attend this conference.  Day passes will be subsidized up to $40 !!!!  Attendees to this conference will get a great chance to meet Vancouver’s entrepreneurship community and attend workshop sessions from some incredible speakers and business leaders.

Check out their website for more info: http://www.enterprizecanada.org/node/81

We highly encourage any interested students to email myself(Chris McCann) at president@ubcengineering.ca and I will let you know more details!!

We have just introduced a scholarships page in our website.  A new academic services web page and updated FAQs will quickly follow, so stay tuned for awesome new content!

A big thank you to Tom Curran, Assistant to the VP Academic, for putting these together for us.
