For being part of sports teams, doing storm the wall or taking part of an EUS event, you get points towards large E patches!

For giving blood, taking part of Pi in the Face, donating to charity, you get points toward charity star patches!

Fill in the forms in by Friday, April 9 and they will be given out at our Volunteer Appreciation Night!

Following up on UBC’s massive success at the Western Engineering Competition, the EUS and Shell sponsored the twelve student members of the four qualifying teams to compete in the Canadian Engineering Competition from March 18-21, 2010!

UBC was once again very successful, placing 2nd in both Senior Design and Extemporaneous Debate.  Congratulations to Andrew Carne, Bob Orlando, Justin Stevens, and Eric Pospisil for their second place finish in Senior Design!  Congratulations to Sean Heisler and Fraser Macdonald for their second place finish in Extemporaneous Debate!

If you are interested in attending CEC next year, look for information on the qualifying UBC Engineering Competition coming in Fall 2010.

Engineer your way to victory in this team trivia contest, on March 25 from 5-7:30 pm in HENN 200!

$240 in cash prizes, food baskets, and more… and not just for winning the overall contest!  Awards are given for funniest response, most team spirit, bonus round wins, and much much more!

Teams are coming from all over, not just UBC Engineering, so bring your friends and your thinking caps, and be prepared for an epic battle of wits!  Rumour has it that teams may be coming from our cross-town rivals at SFU and that far-off distant land of UBC Science….

Come tour all of the engineering clubrooms to help with your decision of which department to choose!

Each departmental club will have fun activities and/or presentations that showcase what’s special about that program. First years get the opportunity to ask questions of senior students who have been through everything before.

The first tour leaves at 3:30 pm sharp and the last tour leaves at around 4:00 pm.

Meet at the Cheeze and split up into groups, after which a tour guide will lead your group around for some good times. Hope to see you all there!

The EUS Elections are coming in two weeks, and we now have the final list of candidates!  The executive positions of President, VP Academic, VP Comad, VP Events, VP External, and VP Finance are currently up for grabs, as well as Applied Science Student Senator and AMS Representative.

We ended last term with Christmas Caroling, bringing out a ton of engineers to spread cheer all around campus. We also witnessed the revival of the Godiva band, performing all of the carols we sang, further enhancing the good times felt by everyone there. Please join us on this Thursday, December 3 from 12:15-12:45 pm in the Frank Forward Courtyard to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the massacre at l’École Polytechnique: On December 6, 1989, an armed man walked into an engineering class at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal. After forcing the men to leave, he stated that he hated feminists, and over the next twenty minutes, he shot and killed fourteen women before turning the gun on himself.  As a result, Canada established December 6 as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

Lin Watt, EUS President, will be emceeing the short program of speakers, which includes our Dean, Dr. Tyseer Aboulnasr.  The program will be followed by a reception in Kaiser 2020/2030.  Stay tuned for a forthcoming video that will also be shown at the reception.

With almost 1000 dollars raised so far (and many social lives ruined), UBC Engimos are raising awareness for men’s health issues through Movember, by growing mustaches in order to raise money to fund research in the fight against prostate cancer.  This Monday is the last day of Movember, so break out your wallet/checkbook/credit card, head over to the UBC Engimos Movember page, and show your support for a great cause!
