If you require reimbursements from the past year or any other information involving the EUS, you, and money, e-mail vpfinance@ubcengineers.ca before April 21st. This could include: PAF/Endowment claims, club-related funding, payments required etc.

The fiscal year ends April 30th, but I will be out of town over Easter weekend and starting work the day I return. Especially with reimbursements, there’s a good chance you could be waiting a while if they’re not in by the 21st. If you have already given me or Brian your recipts/forms, they’ve been dealt with. Anything else can be dropped off in my mailbox in the Cheeze or you can arrange to meet me via e-mail.

Reimbursements can be picked up at the AMS Administration Office (SUB 266) between 9AM and 4:30PM, Monday to Friday. Amounts under $200 will be given out in cash at the small desk on the left. Anything over $200 can be picked up as a cheque at the main desk. Everything I have filed should be available by next Wednesday or so.

ams_elections_generic_pinkElections for the Alma Mater Society, your student government, Senate, and Board of Governors are taking place next week and we encourage everyone to vote as these students will represent you for the next year! There are two engineering students running; Sean Heisler for Board of Governors, and Joel Mertens for Senate.  Both are excellent candidates for the positions they are running for. We encourage everyone to investigate all the possible candidates and vote for those whom they believe are most suitable for each position.

Dean Tyseer Aboulnasr

Come out and witness the epicness that will be our fabulous Dean, Dr. Tyseer Aboulnasr, taking down all the other faculty Deans in a battle over whose degree is better!  Verbal may be the only kind of destruction guaranteed by the AMS, but if things escalate, our Dean does have a black belt… (more…)

The NCAA Division II Review Committee for UBC Vancouver has submitted its final report to UBC’s President, Provost and Vice-President, Students. The report is thirty pages in length and is accompanied by 558 pages of appendices. You can access the complete report including appendices at www.students.ubc.ca/ncaa

The report will be reviewed by the University’s Executive in late March or early April, and will then be referred to the Senate and the Board of Governors for information. Please note that the committee has no decision-making powers.

The UBC Faculty Cup is now recruiting the planning committee for next year’s event. Join an amazing team of students as they help organize five faculties in a full day competition for the prestigious Faculty Cup!

The goals for the 2010 Faculty Cup include:

  • Involving more students in this exciting event
  • Growing the Faculty Cup to be one of the largest events on campus
  • Becoming the premier event for inter-faculty involvement on campus

For more information on available positions and the application process, please see the attached document: facultycuprecruitment.  Applications are due on Sunday, April 5 at midnight to jarrett.woodhouse@hotmail.com!
