Senator [senator@ubcengineers.ca] – Sean Heisler
The Senate is UBC’s highest governing academic body. They deal with all major academic decisions such as university-wide curriculum, admission requirements, etc. The students of the Faculty of Applied Science (including both EUS and Nursing Undergraduate Society members) are mandated to elect 1 senator each year, who does not have to hold any other positions in either the EUS or NUS.
AMS Representatives [amsrep@ubcengineers.ca] – Karanbir Gill (Industry Relations Manager), Daniel Olson (President), Hans Seidemann (VP ComAd)
The Alma Mater Society (AMS) Representatives hold voting seats on AMS council, the UBC student union’s decision-making body. As the EUS is a part of the AMS under the BC Societies Act, this council holds a great deal of financial power over the EUS. The EUS is mandated to elect 2 representatives each year to sit on this council, who do not have to hold other positions with the EUS (though they often do). The EUS president is automatically given a seat.
Board of Governors - Sean Heisler
The Board of Governors is UBC’s highest governing non-academic body. They deal with all major decisions governing the operations of the university, such as land use plans, new building approvals, etc. Two student representatives are elected each year from the entire membership of the AMS. These representatives can be from any faculty, but the EUS is fortunate enough to have a member of ours sitting on the Board this year. Go Sean go!
