Senator [senator@ubcengineers.ca] – Lin Watt

Senate is the highest academic governing body at UBC, responsible for curriculum, academic policies, appeals, and more, and I am your elected representative to this body! So what do I do other than get the awesomely important-sounding title of Senator? Very broadly, within engineering I work with the EUS (although I am not an Executive) and other student groups to improve your academic experience. Some of my initiatives this year will be to design an improved academic probation policy, increase the number of professors who publish their teaching evaluations, and help implement the recommendations from the external review to improve academic advising in engineering.
If you need any advice or help dealing with the university, or if you have any questions about academic policies, please feel free to contact me at senator@ubcengineers.ca! I am a friendly soul, with a deep and undying love for Star Trek (Picard, what?), Settlers of Catan, and bagpipes (properly played, of course) – so pop on by to my office hours, wave, smile, tell me your name, and guess correctly what province I come from and I’ll bake you a cookie
.
Here’s hoping this handbuk helps lead you to academic success!
