EUS Ex-Officio Clubs are non-mandatory (unlike the EUS, and Departmental Clubs) clubs that have members that are either exclusively or dominantly members of the EUS (ie. undergraduate engineering students). In order to be considered an Ex-Officio Club, membership must be open to students in all departments in Engineering. They are not considered to be officially affiliated with the EUS in terms of government or funding (with the exception of the $2 EWB Student Fee/Donation) but they are recognized as being significant due to their type of membership and values. The EUS considers Ex-Officio Clubs “In-House Organizations” which allow for them to benefit from EUS in similar ways to Departmental Clubs (ie. Booking privileges, rental of equipment, use of Ex-Officios, etc). Ex-Officio Clubs are thoroughly respected by the EUS and involvement with them is encouraged.
Engineers Without Borders
Engineers Without Borders promotes human development through access to technology. Not only do we send volunteers overseas for hands-on, grass roots development work, but we are committed to promoting awareness about global poverty through presentations to local high schools, public outreach events, and world-class conferences. We believe that technology, when appropriately incorporated into each community’s social, cultural, and economic and political context, can drive extraordinary change.
If you’re interested in getting involved with EWB come out to one of our weekly meetings (Wednesdays at 5 pm in Kaiser 2020). For more information, check out our website at ubc.ewb.ca or www.ewb.ca or email us at ubc@ewb.ca
Alpha Omega Epsilon
Alpha Omega Epsilon is a professional engineering sorority, which means that we are different from your typical sorority. As a professional organization, we take part in events that promote engineering, academic development and community involvement. We are involved in engineering and non-engineering clubs, as well the Engineering Undergraduate Society, where are girls can be seen actively participating in student government. Outside of class, we take part in various sports, charity and social events, and motivate ourselves to succeed by having fun!
Interested in joining us make new friends in engineering, to learn about our profession and to become more involved in campus? We are a friendly and diverse group of girls from any one of the engineering departments, and we are always interested in meeting new people.
Girls in any year-level are welcome!
Come meet us at our Open House or another one of our rush events.

Sigma Phi Delta
Our engineers have a long-standing tradition of being the most involved students on campus. Our strengths and interests cover the entire spectrum of university life from academics to sports and everything in between!
At UBC, Theta Chapter was founded in 1932 and the “Fwat Rats” have been the heart of engineering ever since. In 1958, the chapter moved off campus to our Point Grey mansion, escaping the clutches of the IFC and the Gestapo like UBC RCMP. This freedom allows us more time for playing foosball, shuffleboard, video games, and watching movies and drinking beer. Meetings are held once a week at the Sigma Phi Delta house (4586 W6th Ave., 6:45pm Wednesday), and are open to all.

Engineering Student Teams Council
The Engineering Student Team Council (ESTC) consists of representatives from all of the engineering student design teams. Competitions are an excellent way to gain experience and develop teamwork and leadership skills. Employers recognize that students from design teams have excellent teamwork, communication and problem solving skills in addition to their coursework. Besides being educational, teams are also a lot of fun. Please contact us if you would like to become involved in a team or to start a new one.
