We’ve already gone through 9 crazy fun-filled events and are moving into this second week of school with 8 more events to come including the ever notorious Frosh Retreat!
This Week in Summary:
Tuesday Sept 8th
Imagine day was awesome as always. With a sea of red moving across campus and the roar of our chant from 800 plus voices during the pep rally, we showed engineering spirit at its best.
Afterwards, with hundreds of spectators and hundreds more innocent bystanders, we tried our best to contain a giant 6 foot soccer ball in our rather thin field on Main Mall. All of the players gave it their all in this high energy ‘full contact’ sport.
After the fun and tiring 2 hours of E-Ball soccer, everybody was invited back to the Cheeze for a free BBQ! Frosh and older students alike mingled until dark!

Wednesday Sept 9th
We welcomed all first years to lunch this day with the Bam-Pow Action of Batman. Not the dark and deep Christian Bale Batman, but the shark-repellant wielding, tight spandex pants wearing, campy Adam West Batman of 1966! Frosh and a few sneaky older years devoured 150 slices of pizza.
At night, Engineering 101 recalled of our daring exploits and age old traditions in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s and more. We were graced with the presence of the legendary Bowinn Ma to tell the tales to a full house of first years. Free food was of course, provided.
Thursday Sept 10th
Teams of two faced blindfolded races, questionable concoctions and crickets in our fear factor competition. Competition was tight, but Emily and Josh finished first with Kevin and Adam second and Alex and Ben a close third. Later on that afternoon, we had dodgeball! Our three huge teams of frosh gave it their all, but were not able to conquer the competitive and skilled Miners, who came first.
Our last event of that night was games night! Our very own VP Events, Shane Beaton, squashed his competition in Super Smash Brothers, while Alex Mackinnon won the Starcraft tournament.
Friday Sept. 11th
We finished off this week with tonnes of goodies at the Collaborative BBQ, from brownies from Civil to chicken skewers from EECE. Afterwards there were some games on Main Mall from ultimate to bocce ball!
