Imagine UBC; one of the largest university orientations in Canada. What used to be a day meant only for first years has now been expanded to include other years as well. UBC engineering will be providing a large number of new events for upper year students. What are these events? Read on!
For second years;
Every department will be providing lunch for students entering their department, totally free, as well as an orientations session. Each department will have students and teachers available to answer questions about courses, departmental life, and anything you may need to know. Some departments are even going above and beyond that; Eng Fizzers will be treated to a tour of important locations on campus to a fizzer’s daily life, ending off with the BBQ on the rooftop of the Hebb building, at the Fizz penthouse, where students can mingle with upper year students and professors. Mech will be doing a scavenger hunt through the labs they use, with prizes for those who do well, and ECE will have an information session hosted by the department, with presentations by the department, IEEE and the ECE student society. Each department will be doing their best to provide an excellent orientation for second year students that they have not been able to do before; For more info on these events and others, check out UBC Events.

a free lunch will be provided for all second year students from their respective departments.
For third years and above;
Some departments will be extending their free lunches to not only second year students, but third year students and above as well. Geo, Igen, Mech,Mine, and MTRL are all providing lunch for all of their students. Also, the EUS will be providing a free BBQ for internal transfer students (those upper year students transferring between departments) at the Cheeze at 12:00-1:30.
But the real attraction is the main event carnival. Over 250 booths will be setup, showcasing all of the UBC clubs, resources, services and undergraduate societies. With activities, free root beer floats (don’t forget your mugs!) and some live talent shows on the main carnival stage, you shouldn’t miss this spectacular event. Check out our E-Ball soccer right next door from 3-5 pm on Main Mall as well!
