From working in several smaller roles the past year with the EUS and ECE Student Society, I feel confident and excited about taking on a role in the Executive. As Vice President External I would like to work with departmental clubs to help improve how industry nights and career fairs can better serve students. APEG-MAPS is a program that all engineering students pay into and I want to continue to work towards spreading awareness about the program as well as increasing its benefits. It would be valuable to UBC students to increase and promote relations with other engineering schools, especially with the schools that are so close such as UVic, SFU, UBCO and UNBC, and through the Western Engineering Student Societies’ Team and the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students. I hope to extend this as well by increasing the number of events we share with neighbouring schools. As a representative to the AMS I hope to increase our relations with other faculties and encourage joint events and competitions. Through these efforts, I intend for engineering students to have more opportunities to become involved and feel comfortable networking with industry.
